A little seed of what is inside of me; the unexplored hatred and revenge against love. Grungy, gothic, and best of all: pink.
The first line of this piece came to me as I was working in Illustrator. I immediately wanted to use a grungy, distressed font, and chose “FragileICG”. Since the theme was one of heartache, I set out to either find or create a heart shape I could work with and create the punky, grungy feeling I was going for. I found a symbol with several hearts in it, and after removing the pieces of the symbol I didn’t want, I added black strokes to each heart. Halfway through the process, I realised that the piece was missing something; another line of text. I thought about it for a while, and just before I fell asleep that night, I came up with the second line, “caution: I my rip your heart in two”. To accent this line, I divided the piece in half with a black box, which made the hearts appear to be rising from the darker half of the page. Also, I made the word “two” pink, to emphasize the line again. To top off the piece, I added stitches to the main heart to stress that it had been wounded in the past, and developed it into a faux CD cover.
